Founder Ray Sandidge is a seasoned pro whose winemaking journey took him from Long Island to Germany, before bringing him to the Pacific Northwest in the 1990s. Sandidge took over winemaking at Lake Chelan Winery in 2004 and opened his own winery nearby in 2015. His varietals and blends include the familiar, including cab sauv and merlot, and the lesser known, including tannat and petite sirah.

Rising star winemaker Lisa Callan produces well-crafted Bordeaux- and Rhône-inspired varietals with grapes sourced from some of Washington's premier sites, including Ciel du Cheval and Boushey Vineyards. Interestingly, a Columbia Valley sangiovese is one of the show stoppers in her Chelan tasting room, which occupies the former Tunnel Hill Winery space.

Owners Judy and Don Phelps are committed to showcasing Lake Chelan's terroir in their single vineyard varietals, which include pinot noir, tempranillo, syrah, barbera and more. The winery tasting room offers a a bike-friendly setting to relax, with picnic space, patio seating, lawn games and more. The winery also operates a tasting room in Leavenworth.

KARMA Vineyards

Best known for its méthode champenoise sparkling wines, KARMA also produces tasty still wines and ciders. The zen-inspired name is actually a mashup of the owners' children's names (Karle and Matthew), but it also reflects the vibe. The winery's garden patio overlooks Lake Chelan and serves wines and ciders by the glass, flight and bottle, as well as food from its onsite 18 Brix Restaurant.

Set on a 135-acre overlooking Lake Chelan, the grounds at Tsillan (pronounced "Chelan") Cellars (pictured above), which include a winery, tasting room, onsite restaurant and vineyards, are modeled after a Tuscan village. The all-estate lineup of wines include a mix of Italian- and French-inspired varietals and blends, including barbera and sangiovese, as well as gewürztraminer, syrah and chardonnay.

This family-run winery produces small lots of quality wine from its 7-acre vineyard. It used to occupy a quaint stone tasting room on the highway leading into town. However, the owners switched to online sales in 2022. You may see some of their wines in area stores.
